Corporate & Institutional Services

Northern Trust provides a wide range of financial and banking services for institutional clients worldwide. With network of 2,800 staff and 18 offices around the world, we serve more than 1,800 institutional clients in more than 40 countries, including corporate and public pensions, not-for-profit institutions, industry associations and trade unions, local, state, and national governments and investment managers and fund sponsors. Services provided include trust, custody, treasury, banking, and analytical/reporting services to help clients manage their assets. Beyond these, our Global Fund Services (GFS) group specializes in a number of additional services specific to the investment management community, including middle office operations outsourcing, fund accounting, fund administration, and transfer agency services.

The Enterprise Enablement (E2) organization is comprised of multiple teams – from technology to operations to enterprise productivity and more. The combination of these teams into a single organization allows for better alignment with the needs of the businesses, and positions priorities to help the businesses become more efficient, more nimble and more profitable. 

E2’s mission is to enable the businesses to drive profitable growth. E2 is focused on near-term delivery to accelerate growth, while staying focused on what needs to be delivered to clients on a daily basis – including onboarding, processing, production, reporting, stability and capability. Long-term, E2 is focused on profitable growth through a sustainable future operating model. 

E2’s mission aligns with Northern Trust’s corporate vision, as well as the goals of its business unit partners to concentrate on enhancing the client and partner experience. 


The members of our Corporate-Wide Services groups are responsible for helping Northern Trust's internal teams deliver outstanding products and services to our clients by providing expert consulting around the operations of the company. This business unit encompasses Accounting, Global Marketing (Public Relations, Advertising, and Digital Services), Audit, Compliance, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Tax.
