Summary
Northern Trust is looking for a dynamic Scrum Master with experience in public cloud space to join an organization undergoing an exciting transformation to the cloud. Day to day, this person will be directly responsible for leading Northern Trust’s Public Cloud Team’s agile ceremonies, own and facilitate the agile development process and working with a wide range of architects, engineers, developers and leadership.
The ideal candidate will have the skillset to move quickly, interact with a diverse set of peers and bring energy to the team. Candidates with a solid understanding of agile, Atlassian products (Jira and Confluence), Azure boards and public cloud computing would be a perfect fit to join us on this journey. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Four (4) years of professional experience working with and coaching scrum / agile teams
Four (4) years of professional experience in technology or a related field Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies and Agile at Enterprise Scale Prior experience with the public cloud (Azure and/or AWS) Certification(s) in Agile methodologies (PMI-ACP, CSM, CSP, SA, SASM or equivalent) preferred Responsibilities
Own the public cloud scrum and all its processes to manage the delivery of our cloud projects
Facilitate agile ceremonies, foster transparency, inspection, and adaption Lead daily scrum, sprint review, and planning meetings to ensure full team engagement
Manages interdependencies between agile teams
Partner with the Product Owner to maintain and groom epics and story backlogs Keep work backlog healthy and prepared for execution
Anticipate and address potential or actual impediments to team delivery Develop and maintain team metrics for resourcing and progress of epics to stories
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrates extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success as a team leader, including:
Experience leading agile cloud teams working in Azure, AWS, Azure DevOps
Experience facilitating agile rituals (e.g. Planning, Grooming, Retro, etc.) for teams
Ability to work independently to define and deliver scrum processes with little or no supervision
Authoring stories with appropriate detail, acceptance criteria and estimation Leading daily scrum, sprint review, and planning meetings to ensure full team engagement Tracking sprint velocity, story estimation and iterating on past results for sprint planning
Preparation of sprint review / retrospective lessons learned and application to future sprints
Preparation of executive level highlights emanating from team successes
Ensuring that release deliverables are submitted and that quality standards defined by the team are consistently met (per acceptance criteria and definition of done)
Monitoring the effectiveness of scrum team processes and performance, and collaborate with the team on changes and improvement
Experience mentoring and coaching teams on Agile methodology,
Scrum values and process An innate ability to influence, lead and serve a team of highly-skilled and experienced architects and engineers
Understanding of web architecture and software technologies Knowledge of software development and relevant domains/products
Familiarity with AWS and/or Azure cloud technologies, Azure DevOps IT-related projects
Experience/involvement with the migration of large scale solutions to the cloud
Experience in the financial services and/or banking industry General understanding of network security concepts
Strong facilitation, communication and collaboration skills
Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated cloud reports to Management and other Partners
