Consultant, Back Office Operations - Global Foreign Exchange (FX)

SUMMARY

Operates under general supervision but works on own most of the time. Serves on large and / or complex projects. Technically competent to act as first point of reference for day-to-day queries, and serves as a liaison to related areas. Has both broad and in-depth knowledge in chosen field, plus strong knowledge of related areas. Carries out relatively complex, extensive, high profile activities e.g. direct interaction with committees and more senior management. Demonstrates excellent analytical, consultative, communication and judgment skills. May lead projects and / or train lower-level staff. Focuses on maintenance and implementation of policies and procedures in the function, building towards becoming an area expert.

The successful candidate will be a mature self-starter who has demonstrated the ability to function independently in a fast-paced, dynamic and demanding environment. This person needs to be able to resolve conflict within a short period of time. This person will be intellectually curious, intuitive, trustworthy and have the highest ethical standards. In addition, the successful candidate will be effective addressing a number of internal and external audiences in a professional manner. This person will add value by working on a number of simultaneous tasks with minimal supervision and exemplary follow-through.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Highly analytical in connecting the process workflows. Carries out relatively complex, extensive, high profile activities e.g. direct interaction with committees and more senior management.

2. Technically competent to act as first point of reference for day-to-day issues, and serves as a liaison to related areas.

3. Responsible to lead projects and / or train lower-level staff.

4. Focuses on maintenance and implementation of policies and procedures in the function, building towards becoming an area expert.

5. Globalize process and procedures with London and Singapore back offices location in INDIA (Bangalore and Pune).

6. Work on adhoc projects that involves large data and excel files and understand Northern Trust's FX systems.

7. Focuses on maintenance and implementation of policies and procedures in the function, building towards becoming an area expert.

8. Subject matter expert on all FX related issues globally.

9. Operates under general supervision but works on own most of the time. Technically competent and demonstrates excellent analytical, consultative, communication and judgment skill to act as an escalation point for day-to-day queries, and serves as a liaison to related areas.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

• Demonstrates excellent analytical, consultative, communication and judgment skills. Works with urgency and ideally brings advanced knowledge of MS Excel / Macros is a big plus

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, VBA and Word

• Excellent math and analytical skills

• Excellent English, grammar, written and oral communication skills

• Ability to handle multiple tasks under extremely time sensitive conditions

• Understanding of the various FX transaction types such as spot, forwards, non-deliverable forwards

• Preferably have good FX Confirmation knowledge

• Understand various swift message types (MT)

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• College or university degree and / or 5 or more years of relevant work experience

• Previous FX (Foreign Exchange) and / or Financial Industry Operations preferred

• Work on leading or handling projects

• Worked on Data research or analysis will be an added advantage

• Worked or lead projects on current or previous roles
