Role Purpose:

Responsible for managing a team of the Investment Performance and Reporting SMEs within Northern Trust Asset Management in EMEA. Acts as a subject area expert and directs activities of staff.  Interacts with various business areas to improve processes/procedures and operational efficiencies, and to support new client or product requests.  Conducts performance management and career development processes, and staffing and disciplinary actions.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for management and leadership for Investment Performance and Reporting staff operating from the EMEA region, including oversight of relevant activities in India. 
Acts as a subject area expert and directs activities of staff required to prepare standard, complex and ad hoc performance attribution and reporting analysis that supports highly sophisticated institutional clients, investment professionals and marketing materials.
Monitors work distribution and ensure resources are used effectively both within and across team’s .Adapts the team structure as needed to meet the evolving needs of the business. 
Proactively ensure a strong understanding of end to end processes, controls, data flows, roles and responsibilities leveraging the global operating model where appropriate to best service the needs of end Clients. 
Initiates, develops and implements short term and long term formal plans to create and or improve existing team’s functions and improve the overall organisational effectiveness including the use of India as resource. 
Evaluates opportunities to improve processes and procedures to ensure optimal productivity and quality of output, and deliver internal and external client satisfaction. 
Lead the EMEA based partners to facilitate knowledge sharing and to continue to foster a sense of global and regional team membership, expanding collaboration with other teams in region such as front office, product,  RFP, technology etc
Influences and regularly partners with other operation, technology and service providers/vendors to ensure data quality, identity and resolve issues related to performance and reporting as needed. 
Stakeholder management of wider asset management projects that will impact systems and applications used by the team. Oversight and SME knowledge of regulatory change and projects impacting reporting teams eg costs and charges, Mifid 2, Solvency 11 etc
You will act as a key point of contact in the region; this includes participation in new business forums, and as an escalation point for queries and change as well as ensuring stakeholder feedback is proactively sought.  Ensures any queries/issues raised as responded to in a timely and appropriate manner. 
Evaluates opportunities to improve processes and procedures to ensure optimal productivity and quality of output, and deliver internal and external client satisfaction.  Liaise with relevant partners to implement change, improve processes/procedures and operational efficiencies, and to support new client or product requests.
Ensure effective policies, procedures and controls are in place, well documented and maintained.
Leads and facilitates performance management and career development processes with staff. Makes decision for staffing and disciplinary actions and provides oversight to training to staff. 
Develops periodic goals, organizes the work, sets short-term priorities, monitors all activities, and ensures timely and accurate completion of the work. 
Provides leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee engagement, teamwork and communication. 

The Person
Proven experience of developing, motivating and managing a client reporting and investment performance team within a global asset manager.
Advanced experience with performance and reporting tools. Demonstrable skills in manging end to end process and controls.
Proficient in data and reporting automation.
Proven track record in the ability to critically assess processes, controls and issues implementing both tactical and strategic solutions. 
Adept at leading and managing change within reporting teams, identify solutions and enhancement the overall reporting process and ensure effective global governance and reporting processes within the function
Ability to work in a fast paced and ever changing environment which can be quite pressurised at times, managing the team to work to tight deadlines. 
Experience of client and regulatory reporting of international clients.
Good academic record, very strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Positive, proactive and flexible attitude.
In-depth knowledge of current/future Client   reporting landscape.
Active engagement in industry forums/user groups to ensure teams continue to have the appropriate skill, awareness and expertise to appropriately oversee activities. 
You adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment, taking on new challenges, grasping new technical concepts rapidly, whilst delivering work to a high standard of quality and demonstrating strong attention to detail.

Qualifications 

Background
Graduate or relevant professional qualification 
Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to identify problems and develop solutions. Ability to manage details while maintaining a strategic view. 
Ability to work effectively with ambiguity and change
Effective communicator with the ability to concisely articulate complex risk issues and solutions at all levels of the organisation, including Senior Management, Portfolio Managers, Sales and Relationship Management professionals
Ability to identify and promote global solutions to local issues
Proven leadership skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently
Strong organisation and co-ordination capabilities
