Job Summary:
Manages a full set of fee revenue producing investment accounts ranging from moderately sized to large and sensitive personal trust and individual relationships.  Assignments generally involve a high level of client servicing, in some cases as primary client contact.
 Major Duties:
1.Manage investment activities for a full set of fee revenue producing accounts.  Account load will consist of agency accounts, personal trusts, IRAs and family foundations.
2.Strong new business skills.  Successful candidates will either have an existing network of referral sources, or will work to develop one.
3.Northern Trust’s Goals Driven Wealth Management (GDWM) framework will be an important tool during the sales process and for on-going account management.
4.Manage accounts that may require complex decision making or special handling due to the 
nature of the relationship, size, or type of assets managed, sensitive client issues – where necessary, coordinating shared authority with outside attorneys/consultants.
5.Develop, recommend, and direct the execution of programs designed to achieve investment objectives for accounts or family relationships.  Review and analyze investments to select assets/strategies and manage individual portfolios.
6.Ascertain the purpose or intentions of the trust/agency agreement and the level of investment authority granted to the trustee/agent.
7.Maintain a current awareness of new investment strategies and instruments through regular contact with the investment research teams and other industry professionals, as well as through personal research.
8.Ensure the completion of processing needs and risk management duties relative to the administration of assigned accounts.
9.Perform financial analysis on individual assets as appropriate.
10.May serve on standing investment related committees as appropriate.


Qualifications:
Knowledge of investment and portfolio management theory, accounting and financial principles, associated investment strategies and instruments, and characteristics of various marketplaces, usually acquired through formal education and work experience, is required to manage portfolios. 
Knowledge of investment terminology, the laws and regulations governing trust investments and taxation, as well as the bank's investment policies, procedures and strategies which is usually acquired through work experience and formal education.  
Decision making, sales, and negotiating skills are required to guide sensitive or difficult situations through to agreement. 
Candidates should have 7 years or more of investment experience is required, in which consistent long term job performance has met objectives. 
Excellent communication, client servicing and business development skills are required.
In terms of credentials, completion of any of the following programs (CFA, CFP, CIMA, CPWA and MBA) are highly preferred.
