Responsible for managing the Asset Servicing service and delivery for major clients, providing leadership and guidance to the clients’ service and delivery teams.  A senior leadership role that manages a team of client service delivery managers and works across multiple teams at Northern Trust, the client and the sub-advisor community. Develops the operations strategy and vision for the clients to meet the overall goals and priorities of the client and Northern Trust. 

Job includes managing others and applying operational and strategic management skills. Management responsibilities and decisions include hiring, performance reviews, pay decisions and development. Is accountable for the performance and results of multiple related teams. Develops practice plans based on organizational objectives and client priorities.

MAJOR DUTIES:

1.    Working with the functional Service and Delivery Practice Executives, oversees, plans and directs the activities for the clients’ Service and Delivery team, ensuring that business objectives are met and client priorities are addressed

2.    Develops, implements and communicates an overall operations strategy to meet both the Client's and Northern Trust's strategic plans. Directs the activities of those areas toward accomplishing those objectives

3.    Facilitates continuous improvement efforts by identifying adverse trends and creating action plans to improve

4.    Creates an environment that embraces change by providing change leadership across the Service and Delivery teams 

5.    Drives efficiency and revenue opportunities by managing key, client specific metrics to measure service and productivity

6.    Works with the Service and Delivery Practice Leads to ensure appropriate financial and staffing resources, including developing and managing capital and expense budgets, liaising cross-function to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity

7.    Seasoned leader with extensive business experience, and broad functional expertise, with focus on proactive strategic leadership

8.    With the functional Practice Leads accountable for performance management and career development programs for the client Service and Delivery teams

9.    Identifies and solves complex, operational and organizational problems leveraging the appropriate resources within or outside the department

10.    Guided by organization functional business plans, impacts the department results by supporting and funding of projects, products, services and/or technologies

11.    Identifies business opportunities to ensure continued development of the client relationship.
 

12.    Increase visibility of Northern Trust as an exceptional Asset Servicing organization with the client and its sub-advisors by identifying opportunities for new products, services and operational efficiencies

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: 
•    Highly flexible and adaptable to change
•    Extensive leadership experience with large change management efforts 
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
•    Strong leadership and organizational skills are required to direct the activities for the multiple units.
•    Persuades managers and leaders to take action and negotiates with clients and external partners
•    Applies knowledge of key business drivers and the factors that maximize department performance
•    In-depth Functional / Industry Knowledge is required, including mutual funds and the Collective Investment Trust (CIT) marketplace
•    Knowledge of business strategy development is necessary to provide long term planning and to manage the profitability/performance of a major client.  

EXPERIENCE:
Extensive experience in client servicing and/or related investment management outsourcing and fund administration management accounting/operations.

A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience is preferred. Related Industry qualification is preferred.
