What you will do

IMLG is responsible for the operational relationship between the client appointed investment management community, internally managed clients and ourselves as custodian. The department has a global headcount of 165, locations in Singapore, London, Limerick and Chicago with support provided from partners in Bangalore. The team covers multiple functions, including relationship management, day to day service, communication technology and various related operational responsibilities.

 

This role is responsible for the operational relationship with internally managed clients and client appointed investment managers across the APAC region. Leading a team of over 25 professionals located in Singapore and Manila, the incumbent will be responsible for the management and development of the teams in the region, delivery of daily service and relationship satisfaction within the investment community while managing the operational risk embedded in the relationship.

This is a senior role that comprises a critical part of the local Singapore management and GFS group in Asia.

  • Be responsible for the operational relationship between ourselves and investment managers in the region, including but not limited to :
    • Daily service delivery, disciplines and standards
    • Managing the operational risk embedded in the relationship
    • Use the intelligence gained from query flow to ensure product and process gaps are filled and upstream process improvement opportunities are achieved
    • Service quality and relationship risk metrics, review and action
    • Participation in or lead Northern response to specific client, investment manager or market events
    • Develop relationships with senior members of the investment management community
    • Keep abreast of current and pending laws, regulations and industry practices impacting the area of operation.
  • Lead a team of upwards of 25 FTE, including but not limited to :
    • Management and development of multiple teams
    • Oversee, plan, and direct the activities for the unit, ensuring that the business objectives are being met
    • Be responsible for the financial planning and management of the area
  • Full participant in the global management team
    • Participation in and play a lead role in the development, implementation and communication of the global strategy of the  function
    • Champion the needs of the region
    • Lead specific global initiatives

Your Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proven background in people management gained in a client service or investment operations environment
  • Heightened written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong service orientation balanced by an understanding of the risk environment that exists between investment manager and custodian
  • Ability to combine a strong attention to detail while displaying credibility at all levels
  • Global outlook and an ability to operate within a matrix management environment
  • An agent for change
  • Previous Custody / Middle office or Fund Administration technical and management experience within Financial Services.
