Responsible for assisting in the day to day management of the local Depositary, for helping to set and implement the strategic agenda and for the delivery of services to clients. Ensuring the local Depositary control environment is aligned to corporate standards and industry best practice, you will also be responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships and for supporting the growth of the Depositary Services business. 

1. Delivers the day to day local Depositary Services functions in accordance with Depositary best practice 
2. Ensures all Depositary obligations are successfully adhered to through establishing and monitoring applicable procedures and controls 
3. Provides client support on a day to day and strategic (change) level, ensuring high quality and accurate service levels 
4. Works with senior management to determine the strategy for local Depositary and support the overall effort in EMEA 
5. Maintains and develops client relationships in order to achieve high levels of client satisfaction and to optimise Northern Trusts commercial positioning in the local Depositary Services industry
6. Due diligence and on-site inspections of relevant third parties. This will require operating independently of other Northern Trust group entities 
7. Key member of a client facing team 
8. On-going liaison with the pan-European Depositary Operations function 
9. Monitoring the regulatory environment and assessing business impact. Represent Northern Trust at relevant industry and regulatory forums 
10. Planning and implementation of new product areas 
11. Operates independently; has in-depth knowledge of business unit / function 
12. As subject area expert, provides comprehensive, in-depth consulting and leadership to team and partners at a high technical level 
13. Carries out activities that are large in scope, cross-functional and technically difficult 
14. Role is balanced between high level operational execution and development, and execution of strategic direction of business function activities 
15. Responsible for direct interaction with different committees and/or management 
16. Strategic in developing, implementing and administering programs within functional areas.

Qualifications:

A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience is required 
Extensive experience in a similar function in a custodian bank, securities industry or investment management firm that offers the full fund administration suite of services 
Previous relevant risk management, legal and compliance experience. 
Thorough knowledge Depositary and fund administration duties and responsibilities 
Thorough knowledge of the laws and regulations applicable to the fund and depositary banking industry 
Good understanding of the local and broader EMEA fund vehicles and structures 
Familiar with types of portfolio investment strategies 
Highly effective communication and relationship management skills 
Team player with demonstrable NT values and cultural synergies.
