Role Summary

 

As part of the APAC Capital Markets business, we seek an energetic, up and coming Senior Associate to join an existing team within a fast growing business in our Sydney office. This role supports both the APAC business executing for the global client base and offers global markets support to APAC clients.

 

The role has seasonal requirements to support  the APAC business through an early and late shift pattern through the Sydney summer. Where the team provides staggered coverage between 8.30am and 8pm, in conjunction with a global 24/6 follow the sun model between Sydney, London and Chicago.

 

The role will report to the Head of Operations, APAC.

 

What you will do   

                         

  • Book out / allocate all equity transactions to the relevant client accounts, and manages confirmation process with client via either CTM/FIX/IRESS or manual email confirmation
  • Deals with any queries / issues with confirmations in a timely fashion, liaising with sales and trading teams if necessary to resolve
  • Maintains client static data, including confirmation set up, commission rates in various markets, sub-account setup, booking preferences per market & client SSI's
  • Responsible for matching and settlement
  • Closely monitors both market-side and client side trade matching & settlement, resolving issues with clients  and execution brokers, fixing mismatches and ensuring that settlement rates remain as close to 100% as possible in all markets.  Commercial awareness of positions likely to incur debit interest is key to management of settlement risk, as well as an awareness of sensitive clients or high-value trades
  • Responsible for reconciliation and position management ensuring that as an agency broker, all of our accounts are flat of position and P&L at End Of Day, and that any error positions are documented and accounted for in accordance with regulations.  This is a key risk management tool for the firm
  • Daily dialogue with brokers, clients and internal sales and trading teams. In addition to the global operations groups in London and Chicago.

About You

 

  • Middle Office/Trade Support experience in a Buy or Sell Side firm, within a control focused framework
  • Exposure to settlement processes and market nuances
  • APAC Equity market knowledge including Emerging/ID and Frontier markets desired
  • Strong communications skills (both written and verbal)
  • Advanced Excel and data manipulation skills, including V-lookup, Pivot tables etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 product suite
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task and make decisions in a fast paced environment
  • Tertiary Degree

Good to have

  • Bonds/Listed and OTC derivative experience an advantage
  • Experience in Microsoft BI is an advantage
