The Global Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) team is responsible for the development and implementation of Northern Trust’s diversity and inclusion strategy under the direction of the Global Head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Diversity and Inclusion.  The team is located across all regions to ensure local best-practice and appropriate cultural adaptation.  In the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region the team’s primary focuses are on UK, Ireland, Guernsey and Luxembourg.  The role reports to the Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer – EMEA & APAC.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

Ensuring that the aims and objectives of the regional D&I strategy and Business Unit D&I plans are achieved by working with key champions and senior stakeholders at regional and local levels.
Partnering and collaborating with HR to identifying trends and themes, deliver advice and initiatives to the business and analyze workforce data.  Produce scorecards and dashboard for the EMEA Executive Management Committee, the EMEA D&I Council and Business Unit Leadership teams.
Bringing diversity and inclusion to life through exciting, inspiring and engaging activities including design and delivery of a D&I curriculum of workshops, presentations and educational events.
Providing strategic support and operational guidance the region’s Business Resource Councils.
Sitting as an active member of the EMEA Diversity and Inclusion Council.
Working in close partnership with Internal and External Comms to ensure that D&I messaging reaches the appropriate audiences for maximum impact, including creative content development. 
Building a strong partnership with the Recruitment team to ensure diverse hiring, bias-free recruitment practices and employer-of-choice branding to a wide diversity of candidates.
Managing the EMEA D&I budget, including invoice and expense tracking.
Compiling submissions for diversity benchmarks and awards.
Representing the organisation externally on diversity and inclusion initiatives and networking with other diversity and inclusion professionals.


The successful candidate must have:

Substantial and established work experience in Diversity & Inclusion within the EMEA region.
Sound knowledge of equality and diversity legislation and its application in the UK, Ireland and the rest of Europe and subject matter expertise on the major strands within D&I.
Established cultural competency and the ability and confidence to engage, motivate and advise across broad demographic groups and levels of seniority.
Highly developed workshop facilitation and presentation skills.
Data analytics skills, including good attention to detail and accuracy.
Considerable experience in project/initiative management, capable of running a variety of projects/initiatives simultaneously.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience of effectively communicating D&I to internal and external stakeholders.
Proactive self-starter able to work without significant oversight or direction.
Hands-on, enthusiastic, energetic team player.

Additional Information

The role will involve some travel across Europe – mostly 1-2 night trips, approximately six times per year.
Flexible working options are available for this role, including working from home 1-2 days per week and flexible working hours.
