FRONT OFFICE SOLUTIONS PROFILE

Front Office Solutions is a new strategic business for Northern Trust, which provides a holistic digital+ service offering for some of the most sophisticated institutional investors across the globe, including foundations, endowments, pension funds, corporations, insurance companies, central banks and sovereign wealth funds. As asset owners engage in more complex, data-driven investment approaches to asset allocation, their operational needs and demands for high quality data have skyrocketed. Front Office Solutions provides a holistic, full-service, multi-asset solution that aims to empower in-house investment teams and support their important mission by providing a more comprehensive set of operational services and analytics including portfolio management, investment decision support, operational risk management, CRM/document management and workflow tools.

DESCRIPTION

This role will be building cloud native solutions to support a variety of applications. The role must be able to adapt and help implement various projects. Ideally the candidate will enjoy the diversity of projects ranging from back end serverless builds to working with Electron to build out an administration dashboard to assist in visualizing workflows, user account management, and scheduled jobs. There will be a mix of front end and backend work.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Expert in the following AWS services: S3, Lambda, API Gateway, SNS, SQS, CloudFormation, DynamoDB
  • Expert in NodeJS development (JavaScript or TypeScript)
  • Expert in the following database technologies: Relational Databases, Document Databases
  • Experience with one or more database technologies: MSSQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDb, DocumentDB, DynamoDB
  • Experience building event-based systems in AWS (SNS or Kenisis Event Triggers)
  • Strong experience using GIT, NPM, and building modular code.
  • Strong experience managing CICD scripts in Gitlab, CircleCI, TravisCI, Jenkins, or another CI platform.
  • Expert in communication skills, must be able to explain choices and direction to C-Level stakeholders.
  • Self-starter that requires minimal direction and is motivated and enthusiastic.
  • Can construct queries and stored procedures for backend databases.
  • Experience building applications in a universal application framework such as Electron and ability to build a user interface in a modern front-end framework such as VueJS or React.
  • Work with design and web front end teams to implement a user interface for an Electron based desktop application.
