SVP West Regional Marketing Director - Wealth Management 

Responsible for leading, developing and executing an integrated marketing and communications strategy across Northern Trust’s fourteen West Region markets with a goal of driving client awareness, consideration, and conversion. 

Oversee Centers of Excellence (COEs):  Creative, Content, Philanthropy, Marketing Automation, Target Audiences and Data & Analytics; Manage workflow and outcomes around regional priorities involving the COEs. 

Leverage and Manage the West Region Marketing Group of 8 to 15 direct and indirect geographically distributed reports to propagate new ideas and channels across; sourcing new clients, broadening Centers of Influence, and nurturing existing clients.

Marketing 

  • Accountable for the planning, scope and execution of all West Region events with local marketing partners. Responsibilities include; conceptualize event content, coordinate thought leadership and Northern Trust Institute speakers, suggest content applicable to target client segments, recommend ideas to boost attendance, and enforce client outreach protocols to elevate consistencies across all markets and avoid replication.
  • Lead Generation and strategies for Search Engine Optimization – SEOS and Improved Landing Pages for West Region Office locations.
  • Digital Marketing Campaign and related ability for using digital to identify and locate new opportunities.
  • Mobilizing Continued Education and the Northern Trust Institute to cultivate a Center of Influence Community (COIs) that consistently source and identifies new opportunities for Northern Trust.
  • Generate tools to enable the region to share ideas and best practices
  • Collaborate with Northern Trust Institute to brainstorm event ideas and assist with content of toolboxes or event briefs; solicit support from local markets to launch new persona-driven event concepts; establish and enforce guardrails around events to ensure they align with West Region protocols.
  • Champion technology options and production strategies to ensure region delivers optimal virtual events.  Write/review/edit content for event openings and Q&As used by partners to facilitate panel discussions.

Communication

  • Serve as the lead writer in the region responsible for preparing talking points, client and employee communications, announcements and presentations with a dedicated focus on the West Region President’s needs, including video scripts, leadership promotion announcements, client letters, Northern News articles and local press releases.  (Examples:  local market cashless letters, crisis communication letters e.g. COVID-19 correspondence, natural disasters.)
  • Regularly prepare and deliver regional marketing presentations describing a West Region initiative or success story to various groups (examples West Region Leadership Team, Managing Director, Summit, West Region Operating Group, Next Gen, National Events, and various local market leadership teams.)
  • Assist local markets to develop unique social media content and LinkedIn descriptions.

Sales Enablement

  • Spearhead initiatives to strengthen relationships with professional advisors and key referral sources.
  • Identify gaps and needs in the region and collaborate with sales to define a regional solution (example:   Sales Insight training, Client Contact Preference program, Banker Tombstones, COI Initiative.)  Determine marketing fulfillment’s role to sprout ideas under consideration (example:  Banker Lobby Enrichment program, law firm outreach) and delineate processes.  

Financial & Budgeting / Planning

  • Review monthly reports, monitoring business activity, and adjust potential marketing campaigns accordingly:
  • Generate forecasts to Finance and West Region President as needed, estimating upcoming expenditures and projecting Marketing and Charitable estimated balances.  

 

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experiences. Though each of the following items is not a requirement, a compelling combination of the following is a must:

Skills and Organizational Behaviors

  • 10-15 years of marketing or sales experience, including financial services experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of Marketing strategy development
  • Direct background leading, managing, and developing a team of parallel size and scope.
  • Knowledge of financial industry Wealth Management or Retail Banking products and services
  • Deep Executive Presence, Creativity/Innovation and Decision Making
  • Strong Influencing, Writing, Management, Problem solving/ Troubleshooting, and Change Management skills
