The key responsibilities of the role include:

The Tax Operations Consultant position is a client servicing role.  Responsible The North America International Tax Services team is responsible for coordinating and communicating with the Northern Trust Client Services Team and their clients regarding their tax documentation needs. 

The team is also responsible for reporting to Client Servicing on the status of the clients, supporting Tax Middle Office with the necessary reporting for client visits and managing ad-hoc client requirements relating to the international tax positions. The Consultant is also responsible for work dedicated to process improvement, efficiencies and projects for the overall group.


Monitor, manage and resolve client queries relating to tax documentation and international tax reclaim.

Managing reporting to Client Servicing, Tax Middle Office and Clients where required.

Have an in depth understanding of the clients serviced particularly their inherent traits that impact international tax entitlements.

Serve as a primary contact for clients who have questions regarding tax documentation requirements and escalate to Client Services Team/Tax Operations when appropriate.

Understanding the various systems used by the International Tax group, specifically TRAMs, eGain and Xceptor.

Investigate and identify root causes of errors, engage with Tax Operations to rectify and remediate where appropriate.

Operates independently; has in-depth knowledge of business unit / function.
 
A subject area expert, provide comprehensive, in-depth consulting and leadership to team and partners at a high technical level.

Carry out activities that are large in scope, cross-functional and technically difficult.
 
Role is balanced between high level operational execution and development.

Work as a liaison between the client, Client Servicing and the rest of International Tax Services.

The successful candidate will benefit from having:

College or University degree is preferred and/or global custody and client servicing work experience are required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, prior engagement with clients or front office advantageous. 

Knowledge of system capabilities, analytical skills, and financial industry experience particularly relating to the broad spectrum of entity types and the income flow process obtained by experience in related areas, formal training or prior experience. General knowledge of Northern Trust's global markets and tax operational processes is preferred. Analytical and problem solving skills are preferred.
