Role Overview



Manage a Team in Financial Control operations.

 

Responsible for managing Financial Control section, including conducting the performance management process.  Establish goals/objectives for the team and monitors to ensure the timely and accurate completion of all related tasks.   Responsible for  day-to-day management for a Fund Administration team for Hedge Fund Services. The Fund Administration group for HFS is responsible for providing hedge fund clients with monthly NAVs and financials, annual draft financials and annual tax and audit support.

 
Principal Responsibilities
 
General
  • Monitor team goals as measured against the team’s KPIs, identify process failures and improve quality percentages.
  • Improve on past performance through systems development and continuous training
  • Documentation of issues/query of the team.
  • Follow up on the goals and priorities based on the direction set for the Team.
  • Ensure consistent best practices and monitor the standards as agreed with the home country teams
  • Ensure that adequate training/cross training is provided for all employees and identify training and development needs and establish performance standards for the team.
  • Ensure all the training materials are prepared and updated on the timely manner
 
Core
  • Manage a team in Financial Control operations
  • Maintain effective communication channels at all levels
  • Perform review of the work completed by the team
  • Should have strong knowledge and experience in preparation of financial statements and hedge fund accounting
  • Should act as subject matter expert to the team
  • Track all funds closes / audit related and performances queries and plans effectively to meet the benchmarks set.
  • Should resolve all the production related query of the team. Work closely with onshore to resolves high level query and document them.
  • Coordinate with onshore on day to day work planning and issue resolution.
  • Ensure strict compliance with SLA (accuracy, timeliness and responsiveness).
 Management
  • Work with section manager on performance management process, identifies training and development needs, and establishes performance standards for the team
  • Collect KPI data and work with manager to prepare monthly performance matrix
  • Allocate work between the teams, others cross fund coverage as required
  • Identify current and potential issue and escalate and work with manager to their resolution
  • Provide one on ones to all in the team
  • Perform annual appraisal for the team

Accountabilities
 
  • Employees are required to comply with the regulatory regime in which Northern Trust operates as appropriate to the above role
  • Employees are expected to exercise due care and diligence, ensuring the areas the incumbent is responsible for are organised and controlled
  • Employees are required to observe proper standards of market, business and personal conduct, demonstrating integrity in the execution of duties
  • Reports to Section Manager
  • Responsible for a team of up to 9 including Analysts, Senior Analysts and Technical Coordinators.

Experience 
  • Candidate to have at least 6 years of experience in hedge fund accounting/Financial reporting/Fund administration( accounting of hedge funds, funds yearly/semi-annually audit, financial statements preparation, operating expense, fund industry knowledge, strong knowledge of financial instruments) about 4 years in Fund Accounting / Financial control/Financial Reporting and at least 1 years in supervising teams
